The Stanley Hotel!!!

On our way home from Covenant Heights, my friend Michael and I stopped by a fancy little place called The Stanley Hotel. Last time I hinted that this location was enjoyed by Harry, Lloyd and Steven. Steven King of course, the author of The Shining, and Harry and Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber. Dumb and Dumber used this location for taping a party scene!

This shot is an HDR photo, in which i took a photo of a couple different exposures and merged them.

Here are the really cool banisters that lead up the stairs to the "Hotel Guests Only" section. Who in their right mind would stay in that hotel? I would!

When we walked into the hotel we were caught by surprise. Some of the areas were closed off. We peeked into the music room and saw the awesome Stanley buggy! I named it the Stanley Steamer.

This was the sight we were greeted with when we walked into the Hotel. The Stanley Hotel was getting the floor refinished, and so all of the furniture was gone! The Tour Guide that greeted us said that this is not likely to happen for another 50-75 years. I instantly started snapping off pictures. It's cool to think that i saw a sight that might not be seen for another maybe 75 years!

The Stanley Hotel had some really awesome decor that caught my eye. These were some awesome little pillars that stood next to the fireplace.

Some more awesome decorations in the lobby of the hotel.I really liked the fake candles that were hanging on the wall. I was also trying to get interesting shots and hoping that a "ghost" or "ghoulie" would sneak it's way into my picture.

Like I said earlier, I was sort of trying to get some eery photos, and this one really caught my eye. It was interesting just waiting for the shot, as people walked in and out of the frame.

There you have it! The last few posts were from my adventures in Estes Park, who knows what will be coming next? I sure don't... but i'm excited for it!!

Covenant Heights Fun Times!

This past weekend I had the absolute pleasure of leading Worship for the elementary school camp up at Covenant Heights. I have been in love with the camp for the longest time, and it was such an incredible pleasure to be back there and to fall back in love with it.

They recently got a new spiffy sign that i really enjoyed!

Here's the chapel at Covenant Heights with an awesome view of Longs Peak in the background. I especially liked the different sky trails going on in here.

And another view of the chapel with some beautiful snow chilling behind it.

I got one of my proudest moments in this picture. Here is a morning view of longs peak with the moon just hanging out in the corner.

This little wooden wagon art piece has been there for as long as i can remember.

And a close up of the wagon with a sweet view of Long's Peak (If you can't tell, i was quite fascinated with Long's Peak this weekend.

And there's a quick summary of my weekend at Covenant Heights!

Look forward to more photos tomorrow! I'll give you a hint for the topic of tomorrow:

Harry and Loyd, and Stephen all enjoyed with location...... ;)

Photo Club Pt. II

Outside of Estes Park, there is a really cool old castle that we found. It led to a lot of really cool creative shots.

And here's another one of Andrew, he was the best looking one of our group.

Joe Kingry, photographer extraordinaire, climbing into the trees to get the right shot.

And the last one of Andrew, showing off all his Me.Glad clothing.

Hope you all enjoy the shots!!

Photo Club Pt. 1

So sorry that I havent been keeping up with this blog. I got back to school, and lost all of the steam that the new year had given me. But a few people have talked to me and said they were bummed that I let it go without updating for a whole, so i'm back!

I'm not going to make any promises on how often i'll post pictures, but i will guarantee that it is going to be more frequent than the last few weeks.

A couple of friends of mine have decided to start up a little photo group, and we had our first outing this last friday! We headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park outside Estes Park, and were met with a snowy surprise.
We came dressed in jeans and tennis shoes, not knowing that it would be dumping snow, but instead of giving up, we trudged onward into the snow!

The majority of the clothing we own is Me.Glad, and i thought the little meglad birdie looked good covered in snow.

Here's this guy. a cute little dude named Andrew. He got a slick new camera, and he looked pretty awesome posing with it.

This shot was fun to snag, it was a frozen over drainage ditch, and gave a really cool perspective with the light at the end.

And here is a fun one of Joe getting a sweet shot with a different angle of the drainage ditch.

Week 2! Getting rolling

Here's the second week of photographs by yours truly!

This is a panoramic that i shot while at a youth retreat in buena Vista this weekend! I think it turned out quite nicely!

This was just a quick little shot i took while my acoustic guitar was sitting around my room tempting me with it's beauty.

Another shot i caught on the way to Buena Vista.

I re-found all of my old lego's!! And started to have lots of fun with them!

Mixing some holiday cheer into my lego play....

This red eyed guy was one of my favorites....

Again, he really was one of my favorite lego-men :)

Aaaaand back to pictures from this weekend. It was pretty snowy on the drive to Buena Vista, and i thought this little ranch looked awesome with the ominous clouds behind it.

This is starting to become one of my favorite shots i have taken in a while. A snowy red barn on the plains of Colorado!

I love the show South Park, so whenever I drive to Buena Vista, i always enjoy a good laugh driving by South Park City (The sign is actually in Fairplay)

And here's my buddy Ben Zoolz.... He is one goofy dude..... He decided to dye his mustache for the retreat that we were at... he's truly creepy, but a good guy...... something like that.

Another shot that came from the same sequence as the Panoramic. The mountains around Buena Vista are truly beautiful.

THE SCREAMER! This contraption looks epic! It basically launches you out on a wire over a big valley. Too bad it's closed during the winter...

For the retreat, we stayed at Frontier Ranch, which is a sweet Younglife Camp. Younglife camps always have the coolest light fixtures, and decor in their lodges.
